As the ball drops and the new year dawns, resolutions flood the brain. But do people ever follow through?
“I think that some people give up because they realize that the goals they set for themselves are way too high and realize that they’re unreachable,” freshman Savannah Olds said.
Once the new year comes around, many people have goals they want to accomplish because of “New Year, New Me”. But having goals that become unreachable can cause people to ignore what is important. Not having inspiration can also set us back from reaching for what we aim for.
“Even if a small thing happens during the year, people like to lose motivation in themselves,” freshman Makenna Shelton said.
According to leadership inspirations, individuals usually give up so fast due to lack of motivation.
The motto “New Year, New Me” sets many people up for failure because they try to change themselves just because the new year is seen as a “fresh start”. The new year is primarily for resolutions that never get resolved and that causes us to lose motivation to change.
