NASA announced in April 2023 that they would be carrying out an eight day expedition with four astronauts traveling around the moon, marking one of the biggest and high-risk missions in 50 years.
The date of the Artemis II mission has been confirmed for Sept. 2025.
The mission is being used as a test flight for the Artemis III mission projected for late 2026, a mission to land humans back on the moon.
“I think this is going to be great for space exploration in general and moving forward as a country,” senior Efrain Esquivel said.
The Artemis III will land humans at the lunar south pole where scientists will use specific radio frequencies for observations and data collection .
“There is a lot we have to discover, and we need this for our country because [the world] is all in [space exploration] together,” senior James Walker said.
The Artemis missions are projected to advance moon knowledge, educate man on how to live and work away from home, influence future exploration of Mars, and advance space exploration.
