The upcoming 2024 presidential election has everyone’s heads turning, wondering who deserves their invaluable vote.
With former President Donald Trump having been arrested this past year and recently marked ineligible from the ballots in Maine and Colorado and running President Joe Biden making unfavorable decisions regarding the Israel-Hamas war, the world is unclear on if we will see a repeat of the infamous 2020 election this year.
“It’s really confusing,” junior Jake Ferrer said. “I get more worried for our country with every year that passes.”
This election differs from most with the high percentage of GenZ voters in the polls, by far the most activism driven generation seen in years.
“They are exposed to news in a different way,” features correspondent at BBC News Megan Carnegie said. “Young people are consuming content around social issues and events almost constantly.”
Aside from Trump and President Biden, the candidates for this year’s election include Marianne Williamson (D), Dean Phillips (D), Nikki Haley (R), Vivek Ramaswamy (R), Asa Hutchinson (R), Ryan Binkley (R), Ron Desantis (R), Chris Christie (R), Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (TP), Cornel West (TP), and Jill Stein (TP).
“I think even with the people turning eighteen this year alone, there is a lot that can be done by just casting a vote,” sophomore Dave Aguilar said.
At this point in the year, running is an even playing field, and the people have the right of choice. So, who will win?
