In the Southern Carolina Conference varsity baseball tournament on Monday, April 29, 2024 SV advanced to the next round with a nerve racking 7-6 win against the Porter Ridge Pirates.
The game began and the Spartans and Pirates swung back and forth, accounting for two lead changes and a 4-4 score after five innings thanks to a three-run fourth inning.
In the bottom of the sixth, senior center fielder Braylon Martin hit an RBI double, cutting the Pirates lead to one run heading into the seventh.
Riding the momentum of Martin’s RBI double, in the bottom of the senior Cole Green would draw a walk before junior Robert Jackson would hit a walk off home run, sending SV to the semifinals of the conference tournament on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
