The cinematic universe of Chris Evans

Evans entertains fans at San Diego Comic Con.

Actor Chris Evans is known for his superhero roles as the Marvel Comics characters Steve Rogers / Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Johnny Storm / Human Torch in Fantastic Four and its 2007 sequel.

He began his career on the 2000 television series “Opposite Sex” and has since appeared in a number of films, such as “Not Another Teen Movie,” “Sunshine,” “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,” “Snowpiercer,” “Knives Out” and “Gifted”. In 2014, Evans made his directorial debut with the drama film “Before We Go”, in which he also starred.

“My favorite Chris Evans movie is ‘Knives Out’ because the movie is theatrically and visually stunning in my opinion. The storyline is also really intriguing and all the actors play their roles really well,” junior Sloan Hatter said.

In 2008, Evans appeared in “Street Kings” and the Tennessee Williams screenplay adaptation “The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond.” The following year he appeared in the science-fiction thriller “Push,” where the actor performed his own fight scenes.

His directorial debut, “Before We Go”, debuted at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival. In the film, Evans and actress Brooke Dalton play two strangers who find comfort with each other during a long night trapped in New York City. “Before We Go” is the only major film that he has directed. The film was given a 27% rating by Rotten Tomatoes.

Evans started playing the Marvel Comics character Captain America in “Captain America: The First Avenger”. Evans had signed on to appear in multiple films as Captain America, reprising the role in the 2012 film “The Avengers”. In 2014, the actor then starred in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”.

“Personally, ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ is my favorite Chris Evans movie because it’s where we meet Steve and that’s where his character development begins,” junior Terra LeClair said.

Over the years Evans has been recognized for his work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). He has been given awards such as the Teen Choice Award for Choice Movie Actor, Kids Choice Award for Favorite Buttkicker, and the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Movie Actor.

The actor was ready to move on by the time his contract drew to a close, with “Avengers: Infinity War” (2018) and “Avengers: Endgame” (2019) showcasing his final performances as America’s super-soldier. Evans recently revealed how he felt while watching “Avengers: Endgame” for the first time. “Being the last installment of a 10-year journey, I wanted to experience this final film the same way the audience would. When Cap lifts Mjölnir, our theater went absolutely berserk. Even though I knew the moment was coming, I still got emotional.”

In  2021 rumors arose that Evans would be reprising his role as Captain America in future Marvel films. Not long after the rumors started, Evans tweeted “News to me.”
